Free Offerings Due to the Global Pandemic

This is a collection of free offerings that information technology and cybersecurity related companies are providing due to the global pandemic and work-from-home (WFH) requirements. If you know of any other offerings or want your company added to the list, send me an email.

Anti-Virus / EDR Software

CrowdStrike – The EDR solution has two offerings for their existing customers. “Burst licensing” for corporate devices and a WFH addition of Falcon for employees’ personal computers.

SentinelOne – Free use of their core product until May 15th.

Sophos – Providing Sophos Home Commercial Edition program to their existing customers to secure WFH employees. You need to contact your Sophos account manager to learn more.

Trend Micro – Free use of their consumer product for 6 months for WFH personal computers.

Asset Management

Automox – We have suggested in prior posts Automox as a cloud-based solution for managing WFH PCs – updates, agent deployment, etc. They are now offering a free and hassle-free 90-day license.

Qualys – Free 60 days of endpoint protection with instant security assessments, visibility and remote computer patching for corporate and personal computers.

Forescout

Castle Ventures – We will manage the Varonis and/or Forescout CounterACT systems for 90 days for any hospital in the U.S. for free.

Disk Encryption

BitLocker – Microsoft’s free (included) disk encryption product for Windows 10. One of the most important things to setup since all the laptops are now remote in case they are lost or stolen.

Multi-Factor Authentication

Cisco – Existing Duo customers can exceed their user limit to support an increase in remote workers, and new customers can get a free license.

Remote Access

Cisco – Existing AnyConnect customers can exceed their user limit to support an increase in remote workers, and new customers can access a free license.

Palo Alto – Free 90 days of remote access solutions for new customers and additional users for existing customers.

Remote Collaboration and Support

Google – The Tech Giant is providing free access to its Hangouts Meet video conferencing service through September for its G Suite customers.

Microsoft – Teams is available for free. We use Teams as well as Cisco WebEx at Castle Ventures.

LogMeIn – Free web collaboration and remote support license offerings.

WebEx – Free web collaboration licenses.

Remote Desktops

Amazon – Amazon WorkSpaces is a managed, secure Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) solution. You can use Amazon WorkSpaces to provision either Windows or Linux desktops in just a few minutes and quickly scale to provide thousands of desktops to workers across the globe. Starting on April 1, new WorkSpaces customers will be able to use up to 50 Windows Standard WorkSpaces plus a collection of other bundles across value, standard, and performance for Windows and Linux – through June 30, 2020 at no charge.

Remote Security

Cisco – Umbrella can be used to secure remote workers anywhere in the world. Existing customers can exceed their user limit to support an increase in remote workers, and new customers can access a free license. To have the initial 14-day period extended to 90 days, please contact the Cisco sales team.

Qualys – Free 60 days of endpoint protection with instant security assessments, visibility and remote computer patching for corporate and personal computers.

Training

Elastic – Free online training for the Elastic Stack.

Extreme Networks – Free online certification training.

Fortinet – Free online training.

Varonis

Castle Ventures – We will manage the Varonis and/or Forescout CounterACT systems for 90 days for any hospital in the U.S. for free.

Varonis – Will provide incident response, trial licenses and Varonis services for free. You can also contact Castle Ventures for this offer as well.

Wi-Fi

Comcast – All Wi-Fi hotspots are open and free to all customers as well as non-customers now. Remember to use a VPN whenever using public Wi-Fi access points.

Working From Home

SiriusXM – The satellite radio provider is giving away their premium level of streaming service through May 16th. The offer is not work related, but it helps the work-from-home experience.
